- Much more than a museum, The Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, KY is a multicultural center that is guided by Ali’s legacy of the six core principals he lives by – respect, confidence, conviction, dedication, charity, and spirituality. The experience starts with a short film overview of Ali’s life and leads into an introduction for each of the core principles. The Center’s interactive exhibits, educational programming, and special events inspire people young and old to be great.
- If you’re looking for black art, look no further than the National Center of Afro-American Artists in Roxbury, MA. Not to mention you’re in luck with the upcoming 45th season presentation of Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity going on Dec. 4th through the 20th.
- Are you planning a trip along the west coast? Be sure to include the Museum of the African Diaspora. It offers an interesting view of the origin and spread of human life from the African continent. - If you’re in the Midwest, don’t forget about making a stop to visit where the birth of the Motown sound took place – Hitsville U.S.A at the Motown Museum in Detroit, MI. Imagine standing in the same studio where the top R&B artists of the 60s, 70s, and 80s made history recording their hits. Included in the tour is an experience of the living quarters of Motown founder, Barry Gordy, and his family. The large collection of photos, artifacts, and memorabilia will not only take some down memory lane but also provoke inspiration and pride in a legacy that still continues today.
Family road trips create some of the best memories that money can buy. It’s a great opportunity to see and experience things new and old. If you’re traveling this holiday, make plans to stop at these cultural places or others around the country.
